Jane Mary Simpson Gohorel of East Marion died March 5 at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport after a short illness. She was 90.
She was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Rockville Centre to Percival John “Jack” Simpson and Jenny McLean.
Ms. Gohorel was active in Spay Alter Vaccinate Every Stray and North Fork Environmental Council and was a founding member and first president of the Brecknock Hall Society.
Family members said she loved cooking, gardening, nature, animals (especially cats), music — especially baroque, Bach and Broadway musicals — and playing the piano. She was also a Francophile who was fluent in French and also spoke Italian and German well, they said.
Ms. Gohorel is survived by her life companion of 37 years, Lili Ann Motta; her son John C. Gohorel; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Augusta, and, in October 2015, her son Christopher Wayne Gohorel.
