Ann B. Wojenski

Ann B. Wojenski of Shelter Island was born Dec. 3, 1923, in a small house in Orient to Annie and Alex  (Oljeneka) Olenski. She was one of seven children. 

She married Benjamin L. Wojenski Sr. Sept. 9, 1945. They had two children, Shirley Ann Ferrer and Benjamin L. Wojenski, Jr.

Ann worked for many Shelter Island families and also for the Dering Harbor Inn, and Kraus’ Motel as well. She and Ben retired to Titusville, Florida in 1984.

Ann was predeceased by her husband Ben, former groundskeeper of Gardiner’s Bay Country Club, in April 2009, and by her only son, Benjamin, in 2012. She is survived by her daughter; and was a loving “Nan,” survived by her grandchildren, LoriAnn Ferrer Plock (William), Christopher Ferrer (Kristen), Danielle Ferrer Lava (Marc), Kerri Lee Wojenski and Nichole Wojenski, and by three great-grandchildren Rebecca Leigh Plock, Chase Xavier Ferrer, and Noah George Lava. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews and cousins and other family. She was predeceased by her brothers Anthony Olenski and John Olenski; her four sisters Mary Skrezec, Gladys Flatley, Alice Mysliborski and Jennie Blados and by her son-in-law, Shelter Island Chief of Police, L. George Ferrer, who died in 1996.

A memorial mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 1. at Our Lady of the Isle on Shelter Island

The Shelter Island Funeral Home is assisting the family.
