James A. Kattau

James A. Kattau of Laurel died April 8 at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport. He was 67.

The son of Alfred and Anna (Walsh) Kattau, he was born Oct. 21, 1948, in Port Jefferson.

Mr. Kattau graduated from Mercy High School in 1966, and later attended the Medical College of Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University in Michigan.

Mr. Kattau served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman from 1967 to 1971. He worked as a nurse anesthetist at Southampton Hospital.

Family members said he enjoyed boating and fishing.

Mr. Kattau is survived by his mother, Anna, of Patchogue; his wife, Theresa (née Pisano), of Laurel; three daughters, Kristin Caputo of Hampton Bays, Kelley (Chris) Yousik of Virginia and Kimberly, of Southold; his brother, John, of Delaware; his sisters, Jo-Ann, of Patchogue, Mary Kattau-Johnson of Connecticut, Colleen, of Cortland, N.Y., and Cathy Parkes of Niskayuna, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Emma and Amari.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, April 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
