Cops: Driver blocking traffic in Mattituck was impaired by Xanax

A Mattituck man was arrested Monday after police found him in a vehicle blocking traffic in Mattituck and impaired by Xanax, Southold Town police said.

Brandon Coscia, 22, of Mattituck was found in his vehicle on Westphalia Road near Pike Street at around 1:40 a.m., police said.

During the investigation, police found Mr. Coscia was impaired by Xanax and in possession of Suboxone, officials said.

He was arrested and taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport where he agreed to take a blood test, police said.

Mr. Coscia was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance, officials said. He was held for an arraignment, police said.
