Smithtown Christian demonstrated why it is a two-time New York State Class D baseball champion by recording a 15-3 victory over Greenport in Smithtown on Thursday.

Catcher Zach DiBlanda led the Knights (7-4, 7-4) as he was on base all five times, driving in three runs and scoring another three behind three hits in the Suffolk County League VIII game.

Left fielder Sean Sepenoski had two hits and one run batted in for the Porters (1-10, 1-10) while Jordan Fonseca added a run-scoring double in the third inning. Catcher Matt Tuthill collected two hits for Greenport in a game that lasted two and a half hours.

The Knights, who scored at least one run in each inning, snapped a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the third on a pair of run-scoring singles to center by DiBlanda and first baseman Sal Ciaravino against pitcher Jake Skrezec for a 4-3 lead.

Greenport moved to within 4-3 in the fourth as Jack Webster scored on the front end of a double steal against winning pitcher Austin Sala. Smithtown Christian scored twice in the bottom of the inning to grab a 6-3 advantage.

The Porters will host the Knights in the final game of the three-game series on Friday. Smithtown Christian has won the series as it recorded an 8-1 win Tuesday.
