Cops: Mattituck store owner caught selling alcohol to minor

An Underage Drinker Enforcement Operation in Southold Town resulted in one arrest Friday, New York State police said. 

Recep Zaim, 49, of Cutchogue was arrested for selling alcohol to a minor, police said.

The New York State Police Barracks in Riverside checked 12 establishments during the operation and only one failed to be in compliance, police said.

Mr. Zaim, the owner of Okan Grocery at the BP gas station on Route 25 in Mattituck, was charged with second-degree unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage, police said. He was issued appearance tickets to appear in Southold Town Court at a later date.
