Porter Pride on full display at Greenport’s all-class reunion: Photos
Even all these years later, there’s no escaping the principal.
Bob Neidich spent nearly a decade as principal of Greenport High School. From 1956 to 1959 he worked as assistant principal before becoming the principal until 1965. Mr. Neidich was one of hundreds of Porters past and present who reunited Saturday for the third all-class reunion.
“For me, it’s a wonderful thing,” said Mr. Neidich, who now lives in Massachusetts.
Organizers expected as many 2,000+ people to attend the event, which began at 10 a.m. at Herzog Park in Greenport and was scheduled to continue through dusk.
It was the third installment of the reunion, which runs every two years as a way for classmates to stay in touch while raising money for the school they all once called home.
TK Krumenacker, ’82, said the idea for the all-class reunion started when his class didn’t have a reunion being organized in 2012 to mark 30 years.
“I thought, hey, let’s make an all-class reunion,” he said. “It started out grassroots.”
Saturday’s event, held on a hot, sunny day, was free and funded through donations, including $4,000 from Granite Telecommunications of Quincy, Mass.
