Cops: Vandals cause $1,500 in damage at Mitchell Park carousel

Mitchell Park in Greenport was vandalized twice in the past few weeks, according to police reports.

On July 24, someone went into the park’s restrooms before 10 a.m. and damaged three shower curtains, police said. On July 29, someone reported that four glass panes at the carousel were damaged by what may have been pellets from a BB gun, police said. The glass panels were worth a combined $1,500.

Police said they will check village surveillance cameras to try to locate a possible suspect, as well an exact date and time the vandalism occurred.
