North Fork native Todd Martin Sigurdson of Dumfries, Va., passed away Aug. 22, 2016, at Inova Fairfax Hospital while surrounded by his family. He was 46 years old. Todd was a 1989 graduate of Mattituck High School and a 1999 graduate of Dover Technical School.
Todd, known as “Todd Babes” and “Toppy” by his friends and family, was passionate about his music, particularly playing his guitars. In addition to his music, Todd found another passion: rescuing greyhounds. Todd himself rescued two greyhounds and was a strong advocate for the local greyhound rescue foundations. He was known for having a big, kind heart and a friendly nature.
Todd is survived by his mother, Marne Olsen of Southold; his brother, Randy Olsen, his sister-in-law, Laural Olsen, and his two nephews, Tyler and Zachary Olsen. In addition, he is survived by many cousins and his family of friends.
The family will be hosting a memorial/celebration of life Saturday, Sept. 3, at the home of Randy and Laural Olsen. The memorial will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the celebration of Todd’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Todd’s name to Friends of Music, the music booster club at Mattituck High School, in order to provide instruments to children in need. All donations should be made in memory of Todd Sigurdson, payable to “Friends of Music” and mailed c/o Alicia Hamilton, 1710 Bridge Lane, Cutchogue, NY 11935.
