A bicyclist suffered “serious” injuries after being struck by an eastbound car on Main Road in East Marion Tuesday afternoon, according to East Marion Fire Department officials.

The bicyclist was transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital. First responders called for a medevac and a Suffolk police helicopter landed at the East Marion Fire Department about 1:15 p.m. But the patient was ultimately transported via ambulance instead to ELIH.

The road is currently open in both directions as police investigate the accident.

More information is expected to be released later today.
