I feel as if I’m walking on air. Not only are my N.Y. Giants 2-0 but so is the Porters football team, which will take on the Panthers in Babylon this Friday evening at 6 p.m.

The ELIH Auxiliary’s East End/Shelter Island branch will hold an Italian Night fundraising dinner Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Soundview restaurant from noon to 8 p.m. Choose spaghetti with meatballs or chicken parmesan for $20 per person. Call Carol at 631- 477-2047 for information and tickets.

I’ve received the sad news from Peggy Foster of Merritt Island, Fla., that her husband, Greenport native Barton C. Foster, died April 6. The son of Maude and George Foster, he was a Greenport High School grad and Army veteran who worked on Plum Island for 15 years. In 1967, Peggy and Bart moved to Florida, where he worked for the next 30 years for the space center.

St. Agnes R. C. Church is ready to welcome back its faith formation families. Classes resume next week as follows: Levels 1-6: Tuesday, 3-4:15 p.m.; Levels 7 and 8, Wednesday 7-8 p.m. This year, Level 7 and 8 students from St. Patrick will also be at St. Agnes School. Re-register your children before the first meeting. Forms can be found on the parish website (access the Faith Formation Page and follow the link) or in the front foyer of St. Agnes.

Greenport Schools suffered a big loss this past week when Joe Capuano left. I am going to miss him terribly, but I wish him all the luck in the world in his new position at Peconic Landing.
