Greenport alum working for president in White House
A 2010 Greenport High School graduate is now working at the White House.
Alexander Angelson, 24, has been appointed special assistant to President Donald Trump on legislative affairs, according to a statement from White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.
Since April 2015, Mr. Angelson had worked as an assistant to Mr. Priebus, former chairman of the Republican National Committee. He traveled to political and fundraising events around the country during the presidential campaign and attended every primary and general election debate, according to a Greenport school district newsletter.
Mr. Angelson, who could not be reached for comment this week, graduated from James Madison University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science. He previously interned for the House of Representatives’ energy and commerce committee and the Suffolk County district attorney’s office, according to the newsletter.
The East Marion native is the son of Harborfront Deli and Loft restaurant owners Perry and Melina Angelson.
