Robert J. Becton (Becker) died at his home in Greenport on May 4, 2018. He was 65. He had been a resident of Greenport for 29 years.
The son of Richard W. and Florence E. (Craft) Becker, he was born in Hibbing, Minn. and graduated from Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colo.
Mr. Becton was an investor relations and public relations specialist in financial services in New York City for more than 30 years, as well as an adjunct professor at New York University. He was also an avid railroad enthusiast and model train collector.
Mr. Becton is survived by his son, Andrew Collin Becker, of Rockville Md. and his siblings, Kenneth Becker (Victoria) of Wilmington, N.C., Kathleen Pearson (David) of Grand Junction, Colo., and Carolyn Magnuson (Dean) of Monument, Colo., as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former partner, Carl F. Krebs of New York City and his former spouse, Gloria Pritchard-Becker of Lexington, Ky.
The family will receive visitors Monday, May 14, from 10 to 11:30 am at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 11:30 am May 14. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Greenport.
Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the North Fork Animal Welfare League in Southold.
