Douglas Owen Helgesen

Douglas Owen Helgesen of Boca Raton, Fla. and Cutchogue, passed away June 19, 2026 in Florida. He was 61 years old.

Born on Long Island, he spent his early years between Dix Hills and Southold. After attending Half Hollow Hills High School, Doug graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a degree in communications. He worked for Maryhaven Center of Hope for 21 years.

He enjoyed playing bass guitar and was a member of the Mattituck Presbyterian Church Worship Band for many years. Doug was also active in the MPC youth ministry.

A celebration of life will be held at the Mattituck Presbyterian Church on Oct. 3 at 3 p.m.
