Frank N. Sokolich

Frank N. Sokolich of Southold died May 11 at the age of 86.

He was born Sept. 16, 1925, in Croatia to Gaudenzio and Elisa (née Bonish) Soccolich.

Formerly of Palisades Park, N.J., Mr. Sokolich worked with Boilermakers Local 5 for 30 years. He had been a Southold resident since 1972 and a member of the Adriatic Club.

In his free time, according to family members, he enjoyed fishing and building boats in bottles.

Mr. Sokolich is survived by his wife, Joan (née Allegeir), and his children, Frank, of Wurtsboro, N.Y., Lisa Gozza of Palisades Park and Giordana Bell of Bloomingburg, N.Y.; his sisters, Helen Delmar of Vancouver, Canada, and Giordana Basico of Trieste, Italy; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends May 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at St. Patrick R.C. Church in Southold, Father Peter Garry officiating, with the assistance of the Ministry of Consolation. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
