Michele MacKenzie

July 18, 1969-July 17, 2012

Michele MacKenzie of Great Neck, N.Y., a part-time resident of Southold, N.Y., died on July 17, 2012. She was 42 years old.

She is survived by her siblings, Kathleen Wolf of Lusby, Md., Paula Bayley of Patchogue, Michael MacKenzie of East Quogue and Susan MacKenzie of New York City; eight nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; and one great-niece.

Michele graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School in 1987 and attended Suffolk Community College and SUNY/New Paltz. She was a customer service rep for BJ Murray, Yardi and Pinnacle NY Group.

Michele was a warm, caring person with a big heart. She enjoyed being with her family and being an aunt. She was an artist, world traveler and an avid reader.

Michele was an accomplished potter. Her piece “Sara’s Shadow” was included in the 92nd Street Y Student Show in May 2012. She enjoyed photography, world travel and the theater. In December 2011, Michele got to cuddle with Hugh Jackman in “Hugh Jackman — Back on Broadway” in New York City. In June 2012, she enjoyed Jim Parson in “Harvey.”

Michele was waked at Gannon Funeral Home, 152 East 28th St., New York City, on Friday, July 20.

A Burial Mass was held Saturday, July 21, at Our Lady of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church on Depot Lane in Cutchogue, N.Y. Interment was at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Southold, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
