John Randolph Mims

John Randolph Mims of Greenport died Sept. 11 at the age of 52.

Born Dec. 1, 1959, in Greenport to Frances and Ralph Mims Sr., he attended Greenport School and BOCES Vocational School in Riverhead.

Family members said he was loving and kindhearted and had a great passion to build a strong relationship with God. He was active in the Reel for God Outreach Ministries in Coram under the guidance of the Rev. Dr. Earl Grigg.

Mr. Mims is survived by his wife, Angelina; his sons, John, Maki, Dedrick and Matthew; his daughters, Nakeyia, Shanelle, Essence, Ebony and Chloe; his brothers, Ralph McCloud, Wayne, Ralph, Spencer and Larry; his sisters, Johnnie Mae, Belinda, Vanessa, Dorothy, Jennifer, Renee and Jackie; and his mother. He was predeceased by his sister Phyllis and his father.

The family received friends Sept. 14 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A service was held Sept. 15 at Clinton Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Greenport. Private cremation followed.
