Anthony Matteoni

Anthony Matteoni, a resident of Peconic Landing in Greenport, died Oct. 28. He was 88.

He was born Jan. 2, 1924, to Ambros Matcovich and Dumiza Racconich. Mr. Matteoni and his wife, Louise, were married Dec. 27, 1952, in Long Island City.

He was a retired auto-body worker and a member of the Adriatic Social Club and the North Fork Italian American Club.

According to family members, he enjoyed model ship building, working with stained glass, wood carving and oil painting.

Predeceased by his brother, Marino, in 1945, his father in 1972 and his mother in 1980, Mr. Matteoni is survived by his wife, of Greenport, his daughter and son-in-law, Marisa and William Harney, and his grandsons, Brendan and Brian Harney, all of Manhattan.

A funeral service was held Nov. 2 at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport. Arrangements were handled by Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport.
