Carol Bokina Manwaring

Carol Bokina Manwaring of Greenport passed away Nov. 12. She was 56 years old.

Carol was born July 2, 1956, to Margaret and Joseph Bokina of Cutchogue and graduated from Southold High School in 1975.

She had been employed for the past 32 years as a housekeeper at San Simeon by the Sound nursing home, where she was fondly known by her co-workers as “Green Girl.” Carol was described by her family as a hardworking woman who was devoted to her family.

Sadly, Carol leaves behind her husband of 38 years, Charles Manwaring of Greenport; her son and daughter-in-law Charlie and Rebecca Manwaring of Southold; her daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Joe Cusati of Shirley; her daughter Candice Manwaring of Greenport; and her youngest son, Christopher Manwaring of Greenport. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren, Christian Alexander Cusati, Chloe Belle Manwaring and Emily Joy Manwaring. Carol is also survived by her mother, Margaret Bokina; her sister, Lori Helms; and her brother, Joseph Bokina Jr.

Family and friends will pay their respects at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A graveside service will be held Friday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes R.C. Cemetery in Greenport.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Eastern Long Island Hospital, East End Hospice and Greenport Fire Department.
