Samuel DeLuca

Samuel DeLuca of Southold died Nov. 8, 2012. He was 84 years old.

He was born in East Elmhurst, N.Y., on July 20, 1928, to Gasper and Maria (Leto) DeLuca. After serving his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, he went on to a career as an ornamental iron engineer with Local 580.

The DeLuca family began visiting Southold in 1967 and moved here permanently in 1996 from their home in New Hyde Park.

Always working with his hands, Mr. DeLuca will forever be remembered as a tinkerer, said family members.

He is survived by his wife, Anne (née Giannini), and his sons, Mark (Karen), of Pennsylvania, and Michael (Lori), of Glen Cove.

The family received friends Sunday, Nov. 11, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where U.S. Army honors were rendered.

Memorial donations may be made to the animal shelter of choice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
