The Old Town Arts & Crafts Guild presents “Smile,” a collection of work from world renowned cartoonists. The display can be seen at the Cutchogue gallery on Main Road.
Some of the cartoonists featured include Don Duga, creator of “Frosty the Snowman,” and Van Howell, who produced more than 700 illustrations for newspapers like the New York Times, Newsday and The Wall Street Journal. (more…)

The Southold High School Drama Club presents the school edition of “Rent,” Jonathon Larson’s rock musical, in the district auditorium beginning Thursday night. Hundreds of pipers, scouts, local organizations and businesses made their way from Cox Lane all the way to Cutchogue Village while crowds lining Main Road cheered them on at Saturday’s Cutchogue St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
A huge crowd turned out for the festivities, which took place under plenty of sunshine.

With temperatures hovering around freezing and chunks of ice floating in the bay, over a dozen people plunged into the water at Founders Landing in Southold Saturday morning to raise money for Maureen’s Haven.
The annual event helps the Riverhead-based homeless outreach program, and is supported by businesses and individuals from across Long Island. Southold area first responders were stationed in the water to help out anyone in trouble, but none of the plungers suffered any ill effects from the icy waters.

In honor of Heart Awareness Month, a small group of women gathered at Fitness Advantage in Southold last Sunday to knit and crochet red scarves for the Women Heart project, which distributes scarves to female heart patients as a show of care and concern. (more…)
