Greenport Fire Department held its 170th Washington’s Birthday parade downtown on Saturday afternoon.
As flurries began to fall and the weather turned bitter cold, volunteers from fire departments all over Long Island made their way up Front Street to the cheers of onlookers. (more…)

A celebration honoring the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was held Monday at the Clinton Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Greenport.
Volunteers served community members free dinners with all the fixings and an assortment of desserts.

North Fork Community Theatre in Mattituck presented its annual Variety Show this weekend to benefit the theater group’s scholarship fund.

Peconic Landing and the Brecknock Hall Foundation held a holiday celebration on Friday at Brecknock Hall in Greenport.
Children waited for Santa’s arrival after they decorated gingerbread cookies and enjoyed carols sung by Greenport School District’s a cappella choral group.
After Santa made his entrance, he sat with the group of children and read Clement C. Moore’s classic “A Visit from St. Nicholas.”

The Greenport Fire Department held its annual Christmas parade on Sunday where a crowd of people lined Front Street as marchers made their way through the village.

The Southold Historical Society held its annual Candlelight Tour and tree lighting on the museum grounds in Southold Friday afternoon.
All museum buildings were open and visitors enjoyed demonstrations, decorations, and live music. Santa stopped by for a visit and at 5:00 the Christmas tree was lit for the season.
