SUFFOLK COUNTY CLASS C SEMIFINAL | TUCKERS 25, 25, 23, 23, 25, CLIPPERS 18, 11, 25, 25, 16

What may be even more impressive than watching Emilie Reimer hit a volleyball is listening to her strike a ball. It’s a thunderous sound.

“You can hear it,” Mattituck coach Frank Massa said. “You can close your eyes and know who’s hitting the ball.”

It was a sound that was heard time and time again on Friday.

The Division IV champions are now Class C county champions once again.

The Mattituck girls cross country team edged out McGann-Mercy Friday afternoon at Sunken Meadow State Park to win the county title.  (more…)

Sandy Wilson’s “The Boy Friend” is the latest spirited musical production to be offered by North Fork Community Theatre in Mattituck. Set in France during the Roaring Twenties, this play may be light on plot but it is strong on engaging song-and-dance numbers and laughs.  (more…)

Did you know there are only seven more Thursdays before Christmas? Now that I don’t work in retail, I’ve been tormenting my friends and daughter with the countdown. I have to say, I enjoy the change of season and the holidays. How about you?

Birthdays lead off. Halloween is a popular birthday: Jack Giovanniello, who turns 11, Laura Baxendale and Virginia Gilmore celebrate that day. Sarah Reilly blows out candles Nov. 2 and Angela Tondo on Nov. 5.  (more…)
