After losing its head coach and most of the squad from its state championship boys soccer team of a year before, Mattituck High School experienced a transitional season in 2015.
That’s if you consider a 12-5 record and reaching the Suffolk County Class B semifinals a transition.
But this is Mattituck, where anything less than a county championship is a disappointment.

A Greenport bicyclist was taken to the hospital Tuesday after he was struck by a vehicle in East Marion, Southold Town police said.
With at least one serial Peeping Tom stalking around Greenport’s streets — reportedly staring into bedroom windows and opening window screens — nearly two dozen local residents met with the local police chief Tuesday night to express their concerns.

Rafael Morais inherits a Mattituck High School girls soccer team that finished 7-8-1 overall and was eliminated in the Suffolk County Class B semifinals, but he has some very, very high hopes for this season. His goal is to win the New York State championship. READ
Bill and Jean Peters
A memorial service for Bill and Jean Peters, formerly of Cutchogue, will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greenport.
Mr. Peters died Dec. 25, 2015, at the age of 91 and Ms. Peters died March 20, 2016 at the age of 90.
Southold resident Carroll Grimes, formerly of Pennsylvania, died of Parkinson’s disease Aug. 29 at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport. She was 85. (more…)

Todd Martin Sigurdson
North Fork native Todd Martin Sigurdson of Dumfries, Va., passed away Aug. 22, 2016, at Inova Fairfax Hospital while surrounded by his family. He was 46 years old. Todd was a 1989 graduate of Mattituck High School and a 1999 graduate of Dover Technical School. (more…)
