• Four local students have earned places on the spring 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/Cortland: Elizabeth Bremer of Mattituck, a senior adolescence education: mathematics major; Jacqueline Carlson of Southold, a junior professional writing major; David Kupiszewski of Mattituck, a senior kinesiology major; and Richard Pisacano of Cutchogue, a junior business economics major.

• Two Southold students, Emily Hudson and Zachary Sacher, have been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Boston University.

• Michael Suskevich, a Southold High School graduate, has made the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Lehman College in the Bronx, where he is majoring in business administration. He expects to graduate by the end of this year.

• Cara Benedetto, a 2010 graduate of Mattituck High School, has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa., where she is majoring in equine studies.

• Niki Benedetto, a 2010 graduate of Mattituck High School, has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Drexel University, where she is a sophomore majoring in graphic design.

• William Finn of Southold has made the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Emerson College in Boston.

• Daniel Brisotti of Mattituck has graduated from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy.

• Joseph Flotteron of Cutchogue has graduated from Villanova University in Pennsylvania.

• Richard Mullen of Southold has graduated from Stonehill College in Easton, Mass, with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

• Three local students have been named to the dean’s list for spring 2011 at the University of Albany: Lisa Rizzo of Cutchogue, Kaitlin Villano of Mattituck and Tao Zhang of Southold.

• Erin Bozsnyak of Cutchogue has earned a place on the spring 2011 dean’s list at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass., where she is a member of the Class of 2013.

• Zachary Messinger of Mattituck has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., where he is a junior finance major.

• Jill Ball of Mattituck has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Coastal Carolina University.

• Michael Lee of Southold has graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture and life sciences.

•  Ian Grinere of Laurel, a senior majoring in fine arts, and Demi Mello of Mattituck, a junior majoring in elementary education, have both earned places on the spring 2011 semester dean’s list at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J.

• Scott Worth of Mattituck has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass., where he is studying finance. He also made Academic All Conference in track and field for javelin throwing and mid-distance running for the semester.

• Kristina Seyfried, a 2003 graduate of Mattituck High School, has earned a master’s degree in education, with provisional certification in school counseling, from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y.

• Christopher Ujkic of Mattituck has graduated summa cum laude from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

• Brittany Knote of Southold has graduated with a Master of Arts in teaching from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.

• Jessica Cosgrove of Cutchogue has graduated from the Tulane University School of Medicine with a Master of Science degree.

• Meredith Miller of Cutchogue has earned a bachelor’s degree in public health from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

• Coast Guard Seaman Thomas Surozenski, son of Monica and David Surozenski of Southold, recently graduated from an eight-week training program at the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J. Seaman Surozenski is a 2009 graduate of Southold High School.

• The following local students have earned dean’s list honors for the spring 2011 semester at SUNY/Oneonta: Kacee Bailey of Cutchogue, Carolyn Wells of East Marion, Frank Krupski of Laurel and Joshua Bracken and Jason Doroski of Southold.

• Kelly Dunn, a 2007 Southold High School graduate, has been named to the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Suffolk County Community College, where she is studying veterinary science.

• Cutchogue resident Erin Bozsnyak has been named to the 2011 spring dean’s list at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass., where she is a member of the Class of 2013.

• Jacob Boergesson of Southold has been named to the dean’s list and the president’s honors list for the spring 2011 semester at the University of Hartford (Conn.).

• Darrin Standish of Southold has been named to the spring 2011 president’s list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, where he is majoring in justice studies.

• Lauren Solo of Southold has graduated cum laude from Northeastern University in Boston, where she majored in nursing.

• John Dunne of Southold has earned a place on the spring 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/Maritime College in Throggs Neck, N.Y., where he is majoring in marine transportation. This summer he will receive hands-on training aboard the TS Empire State VI on the college’s Summer Sea Term Cruise to various Northern European ports.

• Michael Ferris of Mattituck and Kristen Helinski of Southold have been named to the spring 2011 semester dean’s list at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn.

• Ryan O’Day of Peconic has earned a place on the dean’s list for the spring 2011 at the Hagan School of Business at Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y.

• Scott Ofrias of Southold has graduated with a degree in economics from St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.

• Christina Stankewicz of Peconic has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y., where she is a history major.

• James Cook of Cutchogue has earned a place on the spring 2011 dean’s list at Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

• Lauren Solo, a 2006 graduate of Southold High School and former Battalion Commander of her NJROTC unit there, has been commissioned into the U.S. Navy as an ensign. He first duty assignment will be as a Navy nurse at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, Calif.

• Alexandra Kowalsick of Cutchogue has made the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.

• Abbe Clark of Southold was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at the University of Scranton (Pa.), where she is a senior majoring in biochemistry and cell and molecular biology.

• Michael Fouchet of Southold has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Lehigh University, where he is a mathematics major.

• Zackery Nicholson of Cutchogue has earned a place on the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.

• Lauren Carlson of Mattituck has graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. She will go on to pursue a doctorate in veterinary medicine at Auburn University in Alabama.

• Kevin Parma of Peconic has been named to the spring 2011 president’s list at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass., where he is a sophomore majoring in exploratory business.

• Brianne Gatz of Mattituck has earned a place on the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass., where she is a junior majoring in communication.

• Adam Doroski, a graduating senior in the department of mechanical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has won the MIT Sea Grant’s Dean A. Horn Award for undergraduate study in marine research. He was nominated for his senior thesis, “Precision Stationkeeping with Azimuthing Structures.” The son of Bonnie and Mike Doroski of Southold, Adam, who won an ROTC scholarship when he graduated from Southold High School, has also recently been commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

• Ashley Staron of Peconic has graduated magna cum laude from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt., with a Bachelor of Science degree in special education.
• Janna Cisterino of Greenport, Sean O’Hara of Southold and Jillian Sirico of Cutchogue have all earned places on the spring 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/Geneseo.
• Peter Olsen-Harbich of Mattituck has been named to the President’s List for spring 2011 at SUNY/Geneseo.
• Three local students have been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/Oswego: Chris DeReeder of Mattituck, a junior majoring in philosophy; William Mehr of Southold, a senior technology education major; and Brian Waggoner of Mattituck, a junior majoring in public justice.

• Mary Swensen of Greenport has earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
• Two local students recently graduated with degrees from Quinnipiac College in Hamden, Conn.: Cassandra Castronovo of Laurel earned a Bachelor of Science in management and Erin Clark of Southold earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.
• David Siegfried of Laurel has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Northeastern University in Boston, where he is majoring in psychology.
• Jeffrey Irwin of Southold has graduated from Columbia University in New York City with Bachelor of Arts degrees in mathematics and philosophy. He will pursue postgraduate study in the fall at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa.
• Katherine Doering graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Inducted into Phi Beta Kappa in 2010, she was a member of the university scholars program and received the Robert J. Pleasants scholarship. Katherine, a 2008 Southold High School graduate, will pursue two advanced degrees in the fall, a law degree at Campbell University and a Master’s of Public Administration at N.C. State. Her parents are former Southold residents Bob and Irene Doering.
• Carl Weiskott of Greenport has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual and dramatic arts from Rice University in Houston, Texas.
• Erin Brush of Cutchogue has earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational communications from SUNY/New Paltz. She will pursue a master’s degree at Marist College.
• Dan Sawicki of Mattituck has been named to the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he is a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering.

• Megan Penney of Southold has been named to the dean’s list for spring 2011 at the University of New Haven in Connecticut.
• Gillian Rowland-Kain and Emily Rowland-Kain of Mattituck have each earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Connecticut College in New London.
• Air National Guard Capt. Glyn Weir of Mattituck, a member of the New York Air National Guard 106th Rescue Wing at Gabreski Airport in Westhampton, has completed the Squadron Officer School course at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. 
• Three local students have graduated with bachelor’s degrees from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.: Byron Brinkmann of Mattituck earned a degree in business administration; Kevin Flinter of Mattituck received a degree in English/adolescence education; and Emily Scoggin of Cutchogue was awarded a degree in communications.

• Abbe Clark of Southold, a dean’s list and honors student majoring in biochemistry and cell/molecular biology at the University of Scranton, has earned a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, awarded for academic merit and achievement in science, math and engineering. She is among just 275 Goldwater Scholars selected nationwide for the 2011-12 academic year.

• Cristina Madison of Southold has been named to the fall 2010 dean’s list at the University of Albany.

• Isabel Cropsey of New Suffolk has been named to the honor roll at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., where she is a sophomore.

• Carolyn Wells of East Marion and Joshua Bracken of Southold have both been inducted into the SUNY/Oneonta chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, a nationwide freshman honor society.

• Kerri Hands of Orient, a student at Greenport High School, has been selected to participate in the 2011 summer seminar program at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

• Nicholas Dickerson, a graduate student at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, has won the 2011 Arthur Kunz Memorial Scholarship from the American Planning Association. The award will enable Nicholas, a 2004 Mattituck High School graduate, to attend the APA National Conference and make a later presentation to its Long Island Section.
