An East Northport man was arrested Wednesday on drug charges after he was found in possession of “several bags” of heroin at a sober home in Laurel, Southold Town police said.

A Suffolk County probation officer contacted Southold Town police shortly before 7 p.m. and “asked for assistance” at the Route 25 sober home, officials said.

Brian Nielsen, 24, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, transported to police headquarters and held for arraignment, police said.

No other information about the incident was immediately available.

A 19-year-old Oakdale man was arrested on Sunday after police said he was driving under the influence of drugs in Laurel.

After officers stopped Vincent Occhiogrosso at 2:15 p.m. on Peconic Bay Boulevard in Laurel for reportedly failing to maintain lanes, officers said the vehicle smelled of marijuana and observed marijuana on his lap.

Mr. Occhiogrosso was also found to be impaired by the drug, according to police.

He was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of drugs, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

He was transported to headquarters and held overnight awaiting arraignment.

A 53-year-old Southold man was arrested on drug charges Friday, Southold police said.

Officers stopped Gary Viglione on Jacobs Lane in Southold about 10 a.m. for driving an unregistered vehicle without a license, according to police.

Upon future investigation, an officer found an unlabeled pill bottle containing Vicodin, a prescription pain killer, police said.

Mr. Viglione was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, driving an unregistered vehicle and criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to a police report.

He was transported to headquarters to be processed, police said.
