A new gas station may be coming to Route 48, though the initial plan for the property was missing a few things, the Southold Town Planning Board has determined.

Those items included enough handicapped parking, a landscaping plan, details about the proposed station’s sign and a detailed floorplan.

“The site plan is pretty basic,” said town planner Brian Cummings. (more…)

Suffolk Times staffer Gianna Volpe took to the sky at noon Friday in an airplane — but with a camera in hand — and took these aerial photos of gas lines in Riverhead and Cutchogue.

Two photos are of the Valero gas station on Main Road in Cutchogue, where a line stretched about a half-mile short of Sound Avenue.

The other two shots are of a Hess station on Route 58 in Riverhead, near Tanger Outlets, where a line stretched past the Long Island Expressway.
