Vennessa Brooks cried tears of joy the moment she passed her driving test. She immediately called lifelong friend Pam Reed to share the good news. For so long, Ms. Reed had always been there to offer her friend a ride anywhere she needed to go.
High school students in the Mattituck-Cutchogue, Southold, Greenport and Shelter Island school districts traveled to Rochester, N.Y., March 7-10 for the Distributive Education Club of America state competition.
To say Chris North maintains a busy schedule would be an understatement.
The 22-year-old Greenport resident is a member of Southold’s Anti-Bias Task Force and recently joined the town’s Democratic committee. He also attends Suffolk County Community College, where he was elected in June to serve as student trustee, a position held by just one person in the county each year.
The Greenport High School Drama Club will present the Lawrence Olivier Award-winning musical “Once on This Island” Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 5, at 2 pm. All performances take place in the Front Street school’s auditorium. General admission is $12; $8 for seniors and students. Greenport School District is the latest recipient of a donation from Southold and Greenport IGA owner Charles Reichert amounting to nearly $17,000 for new athletic uniforms.
