To say Chris North maintains a busy schedule would be an understatement.

The 22-year-old Greenport resident is a member of Southold’s Anti-Bias Task Force and recently joined the town’s Democratic committee. He also attends Suffolk County Community College, where he was elected in June to serve as student trustee, a position held by just one person in the county each year.

Once On This Island

The Greenport High School Drama Club will present the Lawrence Olivier Award-winning musical “Once on This Island” Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 5, at 2 pm. All performances take place in the Front Street school’s auditorium. General admission is $12; $8 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at Floyd Memorial Library, the high school office or at the door. Reservations may also be made by emailing information to [email protected]

Greenport School District is the latest recipient of a donation from Southold and Greenport IGA owner Charles Reichert amounting to nearly $17,000 for new athletic uniforms. The 23rd annual Greenport Lacrosse Shootout, sponsored by the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation and the Nassau County PAL, drew more than 5,000 players, coaches, parents, officials, sponsors and vendors to Greenport High School last weekend. READ

Even all these years later, there’s no escaping the principal.

Bob Neidich spent nearly a decade as principal of Greenport High School. From 1956 to 1959 he worked as assistant principal before becoming the principal until 1965. Mr. Neidich was one of hundreds of Porters past and present who reunited Saturday for the third all-class reunion.
