For Sandy Blampied, the news that arrived Monday — that remains believed to be her mother’s were discovered buried in the basement of a house in Southold — has brought peace.

Remains believed to be those of Louise Pietrewicz, a Cutchogue farmer’s wife who vanished suddenly in October 1966, were unearthed Monday in the basement of the Southold house her married boyfriend, former Southold police officer William Boken, shared with his wife and children. READ
