With the new year comes several changes to Southold Town government, including the swearing in of three newly elected officials.

Al Krupski had little to worry about in his re-election bid Tuesday. The popular legislator had won his first two terms with more than two-thirds of the vote, and his opponent in this year’s race was not actively campaigning.

But there was a different, more personal source of anxiety this time: watching his son, Nick, run in his first-ever election as a candidate for the Southold Town Board of Trustees. And since Al was a Trustee himself for 20 years, this race was even more special.  READ

Tuesday is Election Day nationwide and voters in Southold Town will be asked to choose a supervisor, two council members, two trustees, a town justice and assessor. They’ll also pick a county executive and legislator.

Deciding on which two candidates to support in this year’s race for Southold Town Board of Trustees is no easy feat. The four candidates seeking the two open seats all exhibited strong local knowledge, solid ideas and experience with our waterways.

Thirty years after Al Krupski was first elected to the Southold Town Board of Trustees, his son is looking to follow in his footsteps.

Nick Krupski, 26, has screened with the Southold Town Democratic Committee to run for an open seat on the board and he appears likely to receive a nomination tonight.  (more…)
