Mattituck High School has competed in boys soccer since 1936. That’s a long time, a lot of games and a lot of teams. The best of those teams, according to Mat Litchhult, was the team he recently coached to the New York State Class B championship. (more…)

In recent years, another high school girls volleyball season has come to mean another trip to Glens Falls for the state tournament for Mattituck. It’s something the Tuckers have done four times in five years, but this latest adventure was anything but ho-hum. (more…)

It was a rough year for the Greenport/Southold/Mattituck high school football team. Not only did the Porters fall short of the playoffs, but they fell two weeks short of completing the regular season. (more…)

The Mattituck High School baseball team had hoped that 2014 would be the year it won its second regional title and first since 1983. Although the Tuckers made a good run, they came up short against a Rye Neck team that had physical stature and athleticism on its side. (more…)

Jack Hussnatter, a Mattituck coaching legend, seemed to have been cut from the same cloth that produced other old-school coaches like Greenport’s Dorrie Jackson and Southold’s Dick Osmer. His death April 1 at the age of 82 saddened those who knew him. (more…)

What Sean Moran described as an “out-of-body experience” were the moments immediately after his overtime goal brought Southold a 1-0 triumph over Pierson/Bridgehampton and a second straight Suffolk County Class C boys soccer championship. (more…)

A longtime summer staple on the North Fork, the Bob Wall Memorial Tennis Tournament, played its last match. After 36 years, the plug was pulled on the tournament by its sponsor, Times/Review Newsgroup, in light of declining player entries. (more…)
