Relay for Life will hold its third meeting Monday, April 19, at 7 p.m. at Mattituck High School. Anyone who wants to join a team or form a new team should attend. Call Deb Van Duzer at 734-5050 with questions.

Jodie Jacobs and the Mixed Nuts Relay for Life team are sponsoring two raffles this year: one for a basket of local wines, and one for gift certificates to local restaurants. Raffle tickets are available at Goldsmith’s Boat Shop, Goldsmith’s Toy Shop, Suffolk County National Bank in Cutchogue, Polywoda Beverage and Village Liquors in Southold. The drawing will be held at the relay.

Belated happy birthday to Samantha and Adam Baldwin, who turned 11 on April 5, and their dad, Scott, who had his special day on the 8th.

A very happy anniversary to Bev and Barry Lehr, who toast 55 years of marriage today, April 15.

The Ospreys will soon return to the North Fork. The Ospreys baseball team, that is. Host families are needed for the players. If you can provide a bed and bath for a team member this summer, please contact Joe Finora at 298-4086. Many local families enjoyed watching the team compete in a family-friendly environment at Tasker Park last summer. Consider hosting one of these fine young men in your home and join the Osprey family!

Artwork by SHS students is currently on display throughout Southold Free Library. Curated by art teacher Dan Gosnell, the students’ work can be viewed through May.

Do you plan to travel soon? Have you just returned from a vacation? The “Traveler’s Suitcase” on the upper level of the library contains brochures and maps for your next journey. If you have any travel brochures you’d like to donate for others’ reference, stop by the library and they’ll be gratefully accepted.

The SHS Class of 1970 is planning a reunion for the weekend of Sept. 25-26, to coincide with the Maritime Festival. One of the highlights will be a cruise on the Peconic Star. Classmates from near and far are encouraged to contact Robin Pugsley via Facebook or e-mail at [email protected].

Another young life was taken from us much too soon this past week. Jeff Hunter passed away suddenly, but not without leaving his family and friends with some great memories. Sincere sympathy to his family.
