John William Fogarty

John William Fogarty of Cutchogue died suddenly on March 30, 2010, at the age of 41.

He had been a painter with Bay Creek Builders of Cutchogue.

Born in Greenport on Aug. 24, 1968, to Georgeanna (Drumm) and James R. Fogarty Sr., he was a graduate of Mattituck High School and attended High Point College in North Carolina.

He was an honorary member of the Cutchogue Fire Department and had been active with the drill team during the 1990s. He also was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, the Knights of Columbus in Floral Park and District Council No. 9 of International Union of Painters.

John was devoted to his family and had a wide circle of friends. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed boating, was a faithful New York Giants fan and proud owner of two golden retrievers.

“He will always be remembered for his beautiful smile,” read a family statement.

He was previously married to Renee Kaelin, with whom he had a daughter, Ashley Renee Fogarty; and was also previously married to Kathleen Kerrigan.

Surviving are his beloved daughter, Ashley Renee Fogarty of Aquebogue; his parents, James R. and Georgeanna Fogarty of Cutchogue; a brother, James R. Fogarty Jr. (Danielle), and sister, Ellen Marie Fogarty, all of Cutchogue; his grandmother, Agnes Drumm of Cutchogue; nieces Magan, Lillyann and Jillian; and faithful canine companions Kasey and Molly.

The family received friends Monday, April 5, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where prayer services were conducted by Deacon Jeff Sykes. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, April 6, at Sacred Heart R.C. Church by Bishop Emil Wcela. Interment followed at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery.
