Anglers saved from sinking boat
A 23-year-old Greenport boatman beached his sinking vessel at Orient Beach State Park at 11:33 a.m. Friday morning, Southold Town police reported. Carrying two passengers, the boat of Timothy Sweat began to sink while the anglers were tending to commercial fishing gear onboard, police said. Southold Town Bay Constables picked up Mr. Sweat and the occupants of the boat after they made it ashore and transported them to Greenport, police said.
