Planting the seeds of service
Pauline Nelson (left), 16, and Cordelia Larsen, 15, both of Mattituck, plant zinnia seedlings as part of a Global Youth Service Day project at Charnews Farm in Southold Friday. Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world, with participants in all 50 states and 84 countries. Southold’s Youth Bureau and Peconic Land Trust co-hosted the event, designed to teach young people to improve their communities through public service.
