With everything blooming all around us, love is in the air at this time of year — and Scotty Harkins proved it by proposing to his girlfriend, Jen Dyer. The happy couple will tie the knot in September at Montauk Beach. Best wishes!
Maria Brisotti sent me a great picture of her son, Matthew, who had just won his third straight match in No. 2 singles for Drew University. Matthew teamed up with Alex Belfiore of England. This marked the duo’s third straight win this season.
The next book discussion at Mattituck-Laurel Library will focus on the Candice Millard novel, “The River of Doubt.” Pick up your copy now. The discussion will be held on Tuesday, May 18.
Special thanks to all who came out last weekend to have their cars washed in the student fundraiser for a Spanish Club trip to Argentina next February. Thanks also to those who patronized the Mattituck Booster Club yard sale on Saturday. The Boosters support athletics in various ways, most important the awarding of scholarships each year to our athletes. This is a good time of year to get involved in this club by attending the next meeting on Wednesday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at the high school.

Happy anniversary wishes to Ed and Janet Danowski, who toast their years together on May 2.
I recently received an e-mail from someone who was almost hit by a car when crossing the road by the library with her children. Traffic is increasing on our beautiful North Fork. Remember to stop at the pedestrian crosswalks when driving!
