Mattituck-Laurel

One of Mattituck High School’s most recent traditions is the Junior Prom reception held on the school’s front lawn before the busses leave for the prom. The reception gives parents, friends and community a chance to see the promgoers and take pictures. The PTSA contributes to this event with refreshments and each promgoer is announced by name from the front steps — a great way to kick off the evening. This year’s prom will be at East Wind in Wading River. Thanks to the PTSA members who attend the reception and make it a very special beginning to a memory that will last a lifetime.

Congratulations to Mattitalk and the Tucker Times for being recognized by Newsday for excellence in journalism. The Tucker Times, the junior high paper, won second place for its December 2009 edition. The high school paper, Mattitalk, took first place in the news division for the article “The Insider’s View on Swine Flu” by Erin Pozzalano and Kyle Santillo.
