WORTH NOTING Quilt show features ‘Twisted Traditions’

The 29th Annual Quilt Show, sponsored by Eastern Long Island Quilters Guild Inc. in cooperation with Suffolk Community College, is on display June 5 and 6 at the college’s eastern campus, 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, Riverhead. The show features the process of altering blocks to create unique variations. The queen-size first-prize raffle quilt follows this theme, as do guild members’ “block-in-a-block” challenge and the ‘Tradition with a Twist’ block contest (open to all). The results will be on display at the show.

Quilt artist Barbara Olson of Billings, Mont., will be featured at the Lyceum Gallery with an art quilt exhibit. She will also give three gallery talks, taking listeners on a journey through quilting and creativity to inspire her listeners to develop their own natural talents.

In addition to the quilts and quilted clothing on display, there will be special exhibits, raffles, door prizes, free quilting technique demonstrations, a member boutique and quilting vendors.

Admission is $8 per day; children under 12 are free. Hours: Saturday, June 5, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday, June 6, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. For information, visit eligg.org.
