Greenport

There’s been a baby boom for former Greenporters lately. Congratulations to Michelle (nee Checklick and daughter of Maria and Mike) and her husband, Luke Bonang on the birth of their son, Henry Michael. Henry was born on April 27 and weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces. In addition to the grandparents listed above, bragging rights go to paternal grandparents Donna and Henry Bonang.

Congratulations to former Greenporter Karen (nee Jacobs) and her husband Lou Monti on the birth of their fourth child. William Albert entered the world on May 3 and tipped the scales at 9 pounds, 4 ounces. Oh, so pleased with his arrival are his big brother, Jake, and his big sisters Alexa and Isabella. Karen is the daughter of former Greenporters Sally and Vernon “Jake” Jacobs.

Congratulations are in order for Erika (nee Tuthill) and Doug Cabral on the birth of their daughter Alexandra Rose on May 4; she weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Her maternal grandparents are Beatsey and Jerry Tuthill and her paternal grandmother is Camille Cabral.

The following young altar servers were honored for their service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on May 9: Allison Bauser, Blayr and Payge Corazzini, Amanda Dickerson, Jackie and Toni Esposito, Breana and Zach Gibbs, Rebecca Hammerle, Ben and Zach Hinsch, Steven Kritsberg, Brian Lademann, Claire O’Kane, Ryan Mazzei, Chelsea and Shannon Quinn, Amber and Tyler Rochon, Katie and Roy Schelin and Teddy Watkins.

Greenport High School hosted its Junior-Senior Prom this weekend. Congratulations to those who were chosen for this year’s court: senior princess and prince Jessica Rodriguez and Diego Albizures, junior princess and prince Dennise Jimenez-Estrada and Durell Lawrence, and the queen and king of the prom: Kaitlin McElroy and Marvin Rodriguez.

It was a wonderful weekend for the Jim Dinizio family — both junior and senior. It was a post-birthday celebration for my father-in-law, Jim Sr., who celebrated his 80th birthday on May 5. Jenn presented Pop-pop with an American flag and certificate telling him that it had flown over the U.S. Capitol on May 5 in honor of his birthday, and Cindy gave him framed photos of him and son Jim, both in their official U.S. Navy uniforms. It was just a great weekend. I was blessed to marry into such a wonderful family.

Special birthday wishes go out this week to Taylor Reed, who will be celebrating her 20th birthday on the 16th. These special wishes come from Mom, Mark, Haley, Grandma and Pop-pop.

Also celebrating this week are Danielle Volinski, Mike Sepenoski and Hayley Baker, all on the 13th; Candice Manwaring and Christohper Fisher, both on the 14th; Cliff Harris, Amber Breese-Smith, Ahkee Anderson and Michael Quillin (who will turn 7), all on the 15th; Nicole Moore, Chloe Creighton and George Capon, all on the 16th; my simply wonderful mother-in-law, Marie Dinizio, on the 17th; Mary Charters and Natalie Hocker, both on the 18th; and my nephew Marcus Tooker, Susan Klipp, Vernon “Jake” Jacobs and Kevin McLaughlin, all on the 19th.

Celebrating another anniversary this week are Patty and Carlos DeJesus on the 14th and my sister-in-law and her husband, Cindy and Matt Tooker, on the 18th.

I have so much news to report, if you’ve given me something to post and you don’t see it, look for it next week.
