Adipietro to be honored

Dr. Frank Adipietro Jr. will be honored at Eastern Long Island Hospital’s 2010 Golf Classic at Gardiner’s Bay Country Club on Wednesday, June 9.

Known as “Dr. Frank” to his patients, Dr. Adipietro is the hospital’s pain management specialist.

He has been recognized as “Top Physician” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America. He was named medical staff president in January and serves as vice chairman of the hospital’s board of trustees, director of anesthesiology and director of the interventional pain management center.

Dr. Adipietro has been on the ELIH staff since 1998. Prior to that, he was chief of cardiothoracic anesthesia at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He is the medical director for the Shelter Island 10K and the Shelter Island Chapter of the American Red Cross.

A lifetime New York City Marathon member of the New York Road Runners Club, he has completed 28 New York City marathons as well as two marathons in Boston and the Long Island Marathon in 1985. He is a past president of the Shelter Island Gift of Life Foundation and vice president of the Shelter Island Lions Club.

He is membership chairman of Gardiner’s Bay Golf Club and has served as co-chairman of the ELIH Golf Classic.

Highlights of the day’s program include the golf tournament, a luncheon, cocktail reception and a buffet dinner and awards ceremony.
