Tanya Schulteis-Devoe, 26, of Mattituck was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny last Wednesday after an investigation revealed that she had stolen a 50-inch TV and an Xbox 360 video game system worth a total of $3,000 from an acquaintance, police said. She bought crack cocaine with the proceeds from the items, which were later recovered in the Riverhead area, police said. Ms. Schulteis-Devoe was arraigned at Southold Town Justice Court and transferred to county jail without bail due to prior felony convictions, police said.

In a related case, Jean Carpenter, 26, of Mattituck was charged with endangering the welfare of a child last Wednesday, after the same investigation revealed that Ms. Carpenter and Ms. Schulteis-Devoe had smoked crack cocaine in the presence of Ms. Carpenter’s 19-month-old daughter, police said. Ms. Carpenter was released on $200 bail, police said.

* John Hughes, 20, of East Marion was charged with driving while intoxicated on Saturday at 3:11 a.m. in East Marion after police stopped him for failing to maintain his lane as he drove a 1997 Dodge pickup truck east on Route 25 with his 15-year-old brother in the vehicle, police said.

* Sean Powers, 29, of Southold was charged with DWI on Friday at 12:46 p.m. in Greenport, after police stopped him for having excessive tint on his windows and a cracked windshield as he drove north in a 1997 Honda Civic, police said.

* Paul Mittleman, 47, of Southold was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property on Friday, after an investigation revealed that he had stolen a $400 sander from Riverhead Building Supply in Greenport on Wednesday, April 14, police said.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
