James Lawrence, 33, of Greenport, previously arrested and convicted of public lewdness, has been indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury on charges of second-degree burglary and public lewdness. The charges stem from an April 5 incident in which Southold Police said Mr. Lawrence broke into a house on Main Street and exposed himself through a window to two girls, ages 11 and 15, who were in a house across the street. He gained the girls’ attention by whistling and throwing pebbles at their window, police said.

Mr. Lawrence served jail time last year for several counts of public lewdness.

Judge Rudolph Bruer, in Southold Justice Court Friday, dismissed the latest local charges because of the county indictment. Mr. Lawrence’s case now will go to criminal court in Riverhead.

* Robert Detrick Jr., 20, of Southold was sentenced to six months at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility, with the sentence to run concurrently with one from a previous unrelated case, after he pleaded guilty in justice court Friday to aggravated driving while intoxicated. His driving privileges were revoked for one year and Judge Bruer fined him $400.

The court session dealt with 65 cases.
