Mattituck woman held on grand larceny charge

Southold Town police reported arresting Tanya Schulteis-Devoe, 26, of Mattituck for fourth-degree grand larceny last Wednesday afternoon in connection with the theft of a 50-inch television and an Xbox 360 video game system from an acquaintance. Police said Ms. Schulteis-Devoe sold the electronics and bought crack cocaine.
Ms. Schulteis-Devoe was arraigned at Southold Town Justice Court and taken to the county jail.  With a record including prior felony convictions, she was held without bail,said police. Police reported recovering the property in the Riverhead area.
In a second arrest stemming from the same investigation, police on Wednesday charged Jean Carpenter, 26, also of Mattituck, with endangering the welfare of a child. According to reports, Ms.  Carpenter and Ms. Schulteis-Devoe smoked crack cocaine in the presence of Ms. Carpenter’s 19-month-old daughter. Ms. Carpenter was released on $200 bail, police said.
