WORTH NOTING Festival is all about fleece and fiber

Hallockville Museum Farm, 6038 Sound Ave., Riverhead, will host the Long Island Fleece and Fiber Fair on Saturday, May 22, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The animals who are the source of fleece and fiber — sheep, llamas, alpacas — will be on display. Herding, shearing, wool dying, spinning and weaving will be demonstrated; workshops will be offered; and there will be a fiber market where vendors will sell yarn and fiber-related products. In other words, the fair offers all you ever wanted to know about fleece and fiber.

This event is the first of its kind on Long Island, and well suited to the historic Hallockville farm. Admission is $5 for each adult; children under 12 are free. The event will take place rain or shine. For additional information, call 298-5292.
