Southold-Peconic

I’ve often mentioned that those of us who live and work here don’t always have the time to have fun here. This summer, make it your goal to check out some local places you’ve never visited before, whether it’s a winery, museum, or a different beach. Enjoy it here, it’s your home!

It was a beautiful day for Steve Rutkowski and Laura Tandy’s wedding last Saturday. They chose two great North Fork locations to celebrate their special day: They were married at Mitchell Park in Greenport and held their reception at the Wharf House at Founders Landing. Best of luck to them as they begin their married life.

Heather MacArthur, who turns 10 on June 28, is getting special birthday wishes here from Mom, Dad and James.

The library has replaced plastic bags with environmentally friendly recyclable bags, which are available at the library for $2 each.

Have you been to a North Fork Ospreys baseball game yet? Bring the family and your houseguests to Cochran Park in Peconic and enjoy collegiate baseball action at its finest. The Ospreys play a doubleheader against the Sag Harbor Whalers Friday at 4 p.m. Check out hamptonsbaseball.org for a complete schedule.

I’d like to wish the SHS seniors the best of luck as they prepare to take on new challenges. I feel fortunate that I was able to get to know so many of them and I look forward to hearing about all their future accomplishments.
