Southold-Peconic

Along with your summer of boating, fishing, barbecues, swimming and spending time with family and friends, be sure to include the Southold Village Merchants’ 13th annual Fourth of July parade in your plans. Carol Scott and Joan Tyrer are working hard to make this one the best ever. Watch this space for more details as the date approaches.

Everyone who was a part of the Relay for Life was a winner, but the following people won prizes from the “Mixed Nuts” raffles: Melissa Lambright (fishing charter with Captain Joe Angevine), Donna Angevine (day trip on the Prime Time III), Robert McCall (two passes on the Peconic Star), Victor Mouzyriz (rod and reel from Wego Bait and Tackle), and Susan Rossetti (wine basket). The winners of gift certificates to local restaurants were Lynne Baldwin, John Bateman, Lois Boeckmann, J. Bubb, Pat Buerkle, Linda Clark, Paul Corazzini, Dan DeVito, Daisy Finne, Kathy Halliwell, Marie Jones, Alice Kramer, Mindy Markstaller, Chuck Mogul, Ellen Neff, Sandra Skorobohaty, Mike Twohig, Wendy Tromblee and Patricia Walkden. Betty Lou Fiorelli won the apple-guessing game.

Intermediate tennis players are invited to join the fun Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at the Tasker Park tennis courts on Carroll Avenue in Peconic. All you need to do is show up with a new can of tennis balls, a visor and sunglasses.

Southold Fire Department’s Hook and Ladder Company will sponsor a craft fair this Saturday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the main house. Over 30 vendors will be there, rain or shine.

John Judge’s family and co-workers wish him all the best as he moves on to other pursuits after serving as assistant manager of Capital One Bank in Southold. His last day there will be tomorrow, the 18th.

Belated happy birthday to Becky Terry, who recently celebrated her 92nd birthday with a cake at her Southold home. She enjoyed the company of her cousins Hallock and Cottie Tuthill, niece Nan Reeve and daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Dan Charnews. Becky’s son Richard and his wife, Peg, stopped by a few weeks ago to wish her a happy birthday. At 92, Becky is doing well and loves visitors.

Also on the birthday list are Danielle Maisano, who celebrated on June 8; Jaclyn Conway and Courtney Hall, who both turned 15 on the 15th; Don Cavaluzzi, John Droskoski and Mark Standish on the 18th; and June Englebright on the 23rd.

A very happy 40th anniversary to Bill and Pat Milford, who enjoyed an overcast but pleasant Sunday afternoon with friends at Founders Landing park.

Here are a few things you’ll most likely never hear any father say: 1) It looks like we’re lost. We’d better stop for directions. 2) Why do you want to get a job? I make plenty of money for you to spend. 3) Father’s Day? Don’t worry about it. It’s no big deal.

Remember your dad on Father’s Day. It is a big deal.
