Mattituck man arrested for passing along fraudulent check in Virginia

A 74-year-old Mattituck man was arrested Saturday on a fugitive warrant related to a fraud case in Virginia, Suffolk Police said.
Police said Frank Benedetto was arrested at the 7th Precinct in Shirley on a warrant issued by the Leesburg County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Benedetto was wanted by authorities for writing a check without having sufficient funds to cover the balance, police said.
Mr. Benedetto entered in a not-guilty plea in First District Court in Central Islip, according to online court documents. He has since been released on his own recognizance, according to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.
