Frank Bisk of Greenport died there May 23. He was 90.

Born in New York City to John and Dora Bisk, he graduated from Far Rockaway High School, City College of New York and New York University Dental School, where he was president of his class and later taught orthodontia for 26 years.

Dr. Bisk remained a practicing dentist into his 80s.

According to his family, he was an avid tennis and squash player, an accomplished sailor and a bird watcher. He also enjoyed books, art, opera and the theater. Family members said he “was an enthusiastic fan of any team playing the Yankees.”

“He religiously read the New York Times, the New York Review of Books, the Nation and I.F. Stone’s Weekly,” they said. Dr. Bisk was also a longtime member of the Bertrand Russell Society and enjoyed “engaging in spirited debate.”

Predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Alice, in 2008 and his son Daniel in 2009, Dr. Bisk is survived by his sons John and Richard; his brother, Ben; and five grandchildren.

A private memorial gathering for family and friends will be held in Greenport on July 17.
