Jane Blados

Jane Blados of Cutchogue died at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset on May 25, 2010. She was 75 years old.

On March 10, 1935, she was born in Greenport to Joseph and Agnes Lamaka. Jane was the salutatorian of Southold High School’s Class of 1953. On Aug. 21, 1955, Jane married Anthony T. Blados at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue and together they made their home in Cutchogue.

Ms. Blados was a member of the Columbiettes of the Marian Council, the Cutchogue Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a volunteer at North Fork Parish Outreach and a Eucharistic Minister for Sacred Heart Parish. She was retired from Southold Savings Bank and the Suffolk County Recording Department.

Jane was a very loving, kind-hearted, family-oriented woman who adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her greatest joy. She loved spending time with them for any and all occasions. According to her family, “Jane was an awesome lady with a huge heart who created the biggest and best family ever. She was good to all of us and she will forever be in our hearts.” Her family feels blessed and honored that they were granted such a wonderful mother.

She loved to cook, always wanted to feed you and would use ordinary ingredients to make extraordinary meals. Jane also loved Thomas Kinkade art, reading, gardening and lounging by the pool. She was an avid New York Yankees fan.

Jane and her husband, Anthony T. Blados, who predeceased her in 1995, loved gatherings and social events where they would glide around the dance floor and polka through the night.

In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by seven children: Patricia (Bruce) Stewart, Denise (Mark) King, Lynn Blados, David (Sally) Blados, Anthony J. (Diane) Blados, Paula Reeve and Michael (Janet) Blados; 14 grandchildren: Robert Stewart, Amanda (Stewart) Gabrielsen, Rachel (King) Denston, Tara King, Timothy King, Daniel Blados, Melissa Blados, Benjamin Blados, Brittany Blados, Megan Bladwos, Tyler Reeve, Jason Reeve, Elijah Blados and Amelia Grace Blados; and five great-grandchildren: Robert Gabrielsen Jr., Ava Gabrielsen, Logan Haas, Olivia Haas and Landon Porter.

The family received friends Tuesday, June 1, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, June 2, at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Father Joseph Staudt officiating. Interment followed at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
