Rose Carro

Rose Carro of Riverhead, formerly of Centereach and Sunrise, Fla., died June 21 at the Riverhead Care Center. She was 92.

She was born March 13, 1918, in Hoboken, N.J., to Nicholas and Concetta (Megna) Sicari.

In 1940, she married Frank Carro in Brooklyn. Ms. Carro worked for 50 years as a seamstress in New York City.

She was a member of the Riverhead Senior Citizens and, according to her family, enjoyed sewing, knitting, needlepoint and crafting. “She was a wonderful seamstress,” they said.

Predeceased by her husband in 2001 and her daughter Camille Barone in 2004, Ms. Carro is survived by her children, Concetta Monteforte of Southold and James, of California; her siblings Gloria Izzo of Southold, Helen Pisciotta of Cutchogue, Chettie Betz of Farmingville and Manny Sicari of New Jersey; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Family members will receive visitors tomorrow, Friday, June 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck. Entombment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
