Artists of all ages and abilities from across Long Island took to the streets of Riverhead Saturday for the 14th annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival, sponsored in part by the East End Arts Council. Undeterred by hot sun and burning pavement, they wielded their chalk to produce paintings replicating subjects ranging from Walt Disney characters to a portrait on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. By the end of the event, their individual creations formed a colorful mosaic decorating the length of the closed off sections of Main Street.
